This Spring of 2022, I ventured forth to Joshua Tree (California) with three old friends from high school who grew all the more dear during our two years of weekly Zooming during the Pandemic. At one point during our wanderings, I remembered a long-ago fantasy of traveling to see the desert in bloom – but quickly dismissing the thought (“When would I ever travel out West in the Spring?”). Yet here I was unexpectedly in the midst of the radiantly colorful desert – with friends yet – living out a dream I’d not for so long remembered having. And that’s what Joshua Tree was to me: the blossoming of a long-forgotten dream.
